Buxom beauty: Ayesha Takia's biography

Ayesha Takia is best remembered as the Complan Girl who grew up to be Meera in Dor.

Ayesha Takia was born on 10th April, 1986 in Mumbai. Her father Nishit is a Gujrathi while her mother Faridah is an Anglo-Indian Muslim. She has a younger sister called Natasha. She studied at the Anthony’s High School but did not pursue her education any further as she started her career in show business when she was as young as fifteen.

Ayesha had never let her lack of speaking Hindi fluently come in her way. A go-getter, she is no stranger to the silver screen and has has been in front of the camera even at the tender age of 4. Initially Ayesha did advertisements, she started her career with the "I am a Complan Girl!". She was also part of two music videos – Falguni Pathak’s Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye and another big hit DJ Aqeel’s Shake It Daddy.

Ayesha was first offered "Socha Na Tha!" with Abhay Deol but it got delayed and then Tarzan:The Wonder Car in 2004. She won the Filmfare Best Debut Award for the latter.
Thereafter her films have done poorly at the Box Office, although she scored highly with teenaged audience in India and abroad, especially with her performance in 'Dil Maange More' and 'Shaadi No. 1'.

She also appeared in a 2006 Telegu movie named 'Super' with Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna. The film was directed by Puri Jaganath which was later dubbed into Hindi and released as 'Robbery'.

Ayesha, one of the very few lucky new comers, is upbeat for having worked with the legendary Naseeruddin Shah in his maiden directorial venture Yun Hota To Kya Hota. She has worked in more than fifteen films since then like Dil Maange More, Salaam-e-Ishq, Fool and Final, No Smoking and De Taali. Most of them did not do well at the box office. However her performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s critically acclaimed Dor, in which she played the part of a Rajasthani widow Meera stood out winning her quite a few awards.

Ayesha's latest release was Wanted costarring Salman Khan. It emerged as the one of the biggest blockbusters of 2009.

In her free time Ayesha likes to listen to stories, music, read books, and spend time with her family members. Her favourite leisure is going for long drives and chatting with friends at cafes.

Ayesha Takia's sensational figure and her voluptuous assets have ranked her among the top ten in India's 50 Most Desirable women alive by Zoom T.V Channel in 2006. Ayesha was reportedly dating Siddharth Koirala, brother of Manisha Koirala.

On 1st March 2009, Ayesha married Farhan Azmi, a restaurateur and the son of politician Abu Azmi, a Samajwadi Party leader. The couple had originally planned to marry in December 2008, but the wedding was delayed due to the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
