Tropical Fish Shop is a "match 3" game a lot like Bejeweled, but with underwater theme. You have to periodically match "air bubbles" to increase your air supply, and you have requirements to do X number of certain creature per "trip".
There's a story about how Annabel, who wants to live near a beach and do diving all the time, need to do this for a dive shop (who also sells tropical fish).
Not bad.

AAQR: CandySwipe (game)
This is another Amazon AppStore Giveaway of the Day.
CandySwipe is a casual game where all you do is "swipe" as many of the same object consecutively as possible. You can go up/down/left/right/diagonal. You have a time limit, so do as many as you can!
And that's it. It's sorta fun for short stretches, but lack of additional challenges is meh.

AAQR: Hungry Monstr (game)
This game was one of the Amazon App Store Giveaway of the Day.
Hungry Monstr (that's no E) is an action game. Your job is to prevent the Monstrs from reaching the ice cream cart by "flicking" them to the appropriate.. vacuum cleaner tubes. There are four kinds, so you have to send the right ones to the right tube, or you'll clog it up.
And that's it. Really.
Meh. (6 out of 10)

AAQR: Wiz Kids Jr. (free, $0.99) (Game / Puzzle)
Wiz Kid Jr. is basically another variation on "link the tiles". The grid is square this time, and you need to get rid of as many linked tiles of same color as possible, minimum of 3 at a time. What's special? Some of those tiles at later level becomes "monsters" that will eat your mana. When they ate all your mana, game over! You get some special spells to beat back the monsters though... hammer breaks them one at a time, while later spells take them out in an area, and more.
It's basically a color / tile matching game, with a semi-coherent back story, but game wise it ain't that different.
Worth a try, I guess.

AAQR: Safari! / Safari! HD (free, $1.99)
NOTE: There are four versions of this: regular, regular lite, HD, and HD lite. The lite versions are free.
Safari! is basically another variant on Bejeweled, except the board is now "hex", and you remove tiles by "tracing" the matching and touching ones. All the hexes are animals: lion, zebra, hippo, elephant, and later, monkey and others. In the screenshot, this guy was able to trace/chain together 24 different elephant hexes.
There are multiple game modes (lite version only have 'survival')

There are multiple game modes (lite version only have 'survival')
- 'survival' (until your time runs out, but the more you do the more time you got)
- 'time attack' 100 seconds to see how many points you can score
- 'endless' see how many you can do until you ran out of moves?
The HD version has better graphics, basically, but plays the same. The tiles are based on various animals you can find on an African safari, such as lions, monkeys, elephants, giraffes, and so on.
Gameplay has little to do with safari. I guess if you need a bit of diversion playing the lite version ain't bad. The other modes? Rather superfluous, IMHO.

AAQR: Abduction 2 (free, $2.19)
Abduction 2 is sequel to Abduction, where a cow tries to jump its way into the UFO that abducted her friends (and nearly got her) and save all of them.
The controls are simple: you merely tilt the phone left and right to control the jump and fall trajectory. There are of course a few things in the way...
Unfortunately, this app doesn't work on my OG Droid. It just quits as I got into the game. Your experience may vary. (The original worked quite well).

AAQR: 180 / 180 Ultra (free, $1.99) game
180 / 180 Ultra is basically a relative of Tetris and Bejeweled. The premise is simple: the "tiles" keep falling from above. If they reach the bottom of the screen, it's game over! To remove the encroaching tiles, you can "shoot" your "next tile" at the dropping tiles to make 3-in-a-row, which will remove all touching tiles of same color (and if you can make other tiles make 3-in-a-row as well, you'll get chain bonus. If you don't see any tiles you can shoot, you can tap the tile to "flip" them to a different color. (You can flip your next tile also).
The mechanics are pretty simple, yet somewhat addictive. Not as simple as Bejeweled or Tetris, but a fun combo nonetheless.
Given away by Amazon Appstore for July 11th, 2011. Get it before it's too late!

AAQR: Glow Hockey 2
Glow Hockey 2 is the new version of "air table hockey" with a neon glow style art. The action is simple... each side has one paddle, the "ball" is bounced back and forth, back and forth, until one side gets a goal into the other side.
Visuals are quite good, and you can choose different paddles and balls in the pro version. Fast fun. You can also play 2 players on same device. You can do quick games, or try the "tournament" mode where you make it as far as possible.

AAQR: My Paper Plane 2 (paid / free)
My Paper Airplane 2 is a tilt-controlled action puzzle game where you control a paper airplane with almost infinite flight time. Your objective is to hit as many stars as possible without crashing into anything (and thus, stop). You now have to maneuver in 3D (well, technically 2d as your forward velocity is constant) but there is a lot of fun. There are success levels in 5 different maps, and you need to do well in easy levels to unlock the hard levels. Adjust the sensitivity to help you control the plane. This requires both precision and speed.
Graphics is relatively simple 3D, but it gets the job done, as you have to fly past trees, houses, through rings, under gates, and more.
Definitely try the "demo/lite" version which has ONE level and the tutorial.

AAQR: Office Jerk (game)
Office Jerk is basically Paper Toss, with a bit more violence and more variety of products.
The basic idea is simple: you have a variety of items to throw at this guy sitting at the desk... from eggs to pies to staplers to... firecrackers. The idea is to hit the poor sap with as many shots in a row as possible, with variable wind affecting your trajectory.
Is it fun? For a short while. It's a stress reliever.

AAQR: Grow the game
Grow is basically Hungry Shark, albeit without the blood. I have a little problem with the control scheme, but you can change that in the game. It's a fun little game if you want a kid-friendly version of Hungry Shark.
The premise is simple: you're ONE fish in the environment (jar, aquarium, etc.) and you need to eat other fish (and avoid the bad fish), and collect coins (from eating fish) while you can. You can choose from several control schemes, like "swim to this spot" (touch the screen) to traditional virtual control pad, to tilt controls, but the idea is the same: eat other fish as fast as you can, and collect coins as much as you can.
There are two "maps" each with many like 15 "levels" in the free version. The full version has more. Each level will be rated for amount of success (how many coins you got and how much time you took).
Lots of short fun, albeit a bit primitive.

AAQR: Impossible Game (paid, action, simple)
There isn't much about the Impossible Game... There are only three controls. Jump, flag, erase flag.
You're a "square". You need to go as far as possible along the track and not have bad things happen to you... Your speed is fixed, so your only option is the jump at the right time and avoid bad things and land on good things.
Obviously when you need to do the jumps in combinations with utmost precision, this gets impossible.
To help you along, you can drop a "restart flag" which means when you die, you start at the flag, instead of all the way back at the start. You can also 'erase flag' which lets you put down a new one (probably when you made it past a particularly nasty section).
If you like this sort of "reflex" game where there is only one action, sure, give it a try. It was free for a day on Amazon Appstore, but the version now costs $1.37. Sorry, no demo available.

AAQR: Super Dynamite Fishing
Dynamite Fishing is a "redneck" sport, and this is the game version. The idea is simple: you have some dynamite and you have limited time to get a good haul of fish. You can also shoot a few birds. Later, you can buy access to other lakes, more weapons, and more.
The game looks to be a bit deeper than at first look. You start in the most basic boat (actually, it's a bathtub). Later you can upgrade to a... battleship? (What's what for? The Loch Ness Monster?) the idea is use the minimal amount of ammo in the minimal amount of time for the maximum results. You can tilt left/right o move, then tap to release the dynamite. Clearly, some stuff you should not hit, and others takes multiple hits.
As it was free for a day on Amazon Appstore, it's worth a try. Otherwise, try the demo.

AAQR: Skyfrontier 3D (game, free)
Skyfrontier is a weird game. It's basically a run-and-jump game, except you're using a spaceship, and it's in 3D.
Basically, imagine playing something like a driving game... tilt controls left/right movement. Don't "fall off" the road.
Then imagine gaps in the road you need to JUMP over, and obstacles you need to jump over too. There's a jump button.
Make it into the "end hangar" to finish the level and go onto the next one.
The tilt controls are good, and the graphics are smooth. Is it a good game? Hmmm...

The problem is the representation is a bit too... strict. Controls are twitchy is heck, radar, jump pints, and such are almost invisible. There really is no virtual joystick, tilt only. Throttle is hard to use without keys, and then where are the rest of the controls? Eeek.
You'll need a lot of time to get this game working... but it's sure nostalgic. And what do you really expect for a free game?

AAQR: Pewpew 2 (Game, Paid)
Got Pewpew 2 for free from Amazon Appstore during the giveaway period. It's a neat little game.
Basically it's a combination of Robotron (with twin joysticks) with the looks of Omega Race or one of those vector displays. And there are a variety of game modes. There's a whole "tree" of missions with some unique challenges per level. Special gates keep you an the area until you deal with the enemies. Sometimes you are "tied up" against a central "chain" until your weapons work. At other times it's "run for it!" dash for the finish.
It's frantic action, and it has campaign mode AND survival mode.
Try the demo.

AAQR: Tank Hero (game, free)
You control one tank, and your objective is to kill all of the other tanks on the level without getting killed yourself. You have a much faster firing cannon, and you can shoot in one direction and move in a different direction, just like a real tank with rotating turrets. Furthermore, your shots will bounce off walls (at least once) and you can use that to your advantage. Later you get advanced weapons like missiles.
The controls are twitchy and difficult. There are several control schemes but all of them are twitchy and glitchy. The tanks fire without being prompted to do so. Turret won't rotate properly (or at least aim properly, keeps flickering a little). The game is a little fast for careful aiming, but that doesn't excuse the glitchy controls.
The tanks are small enough to see the whole playing field and big enough to see SOME details. Graphics are decent and has a good frame rate.
As the game is free, give it a try. It's good for some short amusement.

AAQR: Angry Birds RIO the game
Everybody knows Angry Birds, the game where the birds are attacking the pigs who stole the eggs. Now there's a new chapter in Angry Birds saga. In a tie-in with the new Disney movie Rio, Angry Birds is having a great adventure to Rio de Janairo! Kidnapped by bird-nappers, the Angry Birds are escaping, rescuing fellow birds, and busting evil along the way!
The mechanics are the same, but the graphics are even BETTER! The parallax scrolling is cleaner and more detailed than ever. Instead of busting pigs, you need to hit cages which when broken will release the captive birds. Otherwise, same game.
It was free for a little while on Amazon's new App Store, and it's DEFINITELY worth a download.
